Coulsdon is a busy town in the southern part of the London Borough of Croydon, sitting on the chalk downs with Happy Valley and Farthing Downs on its doorstep. The town has a broad mix of housing, from Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the old village centre to interwar semis and large post-war estates. The open grassland of Farthing Downs also makes Coulsdon a spot where ground-nesting wasps can surprise dog walkers and families.
