Cheltenham is one of the finest Regency towns in England, with its sweeping terraces, tree-lined Promenade and elegant squares dating from the town's heyday as a fashionable spa. Behind the grand facades, however, the buildings present pest challenges that come with age and complexity. The Regency terraces along the Promenade, Montpellier and Pittville have connected roof voids, deep cellars and the kind of ornate stonework that develops cracks and gaps over two centuries.
