Pest Control in Leeds

Leeds is a big city with a lot of variety, from the dense terraced streets of Headingley and Hyde Park to the newer estates out in Horsforth and Garforth and the industrial areas around Hunslet and Cross Green. That mix of old and new housing creates different pest pressures across different parts of the city. The terraced houses in LS6 and LS4 were built over a hundred years ago with airbricks, gaps under doors and shared loft spaces that make life easy for mice. A mouse only needs a gap the width of a pencil to get in and in a long row of terraces they can travel from one end to the other through the roof space without anyone realising. The city centre around the Corn Exchange, Kirkgate Market and the Calls has seen a lot of regeneration, but the older buildings that sit alongside the new bars and restaurants still have the kind of cracks and voids that rats will find and use.

The River Aire and the Leeds-Liverpool Canal run right through the middle of the city and both carry a healthy population of brown rats. Around Granary Wharf, the Dark Arches and down through the Aire Valley towards Woodlesford, rats move freely between the waterside and the surrounding buildings. They are strong swimmers and will travel along storm drains and overflow pipes to get into properties that back onto the water. Further out, areas like Roundhay, Chapel Allerton and Meanwood sit close to green spaces and mature woodland and grey squirrels are a regular issue in those neighbourhoods. They chew through fascia boards and soffits to get into lofts and once inside they can cause real damage to wiring and insulation.

Rat control is something we deal with right across Leeds, but the south and east of the city tend to see more call-outs. Beeston, Middleton and Belle Isle have a mix of older council-built housing and open green space that gives rats plenty of cover and easy routes between gardens. Wasps build nests in wall cavities, garden sheds and under roof tiles and we see a spike in wasp calls every summer from about July onwards. The city is big enough that the pest picture changes depending on where you are and knowing the local area well matters when it comes to tracking down the source of a problem quickly.

Pest control is the management or removal of unwanted pests such as rodents, insects, birds or other wildlife that invade homes or businesses. It involves inspection, identification of pests and tailored treatment solutions to eliminate or prevent infestations. Professional pest control companies use methods like traps, bait, insecticides and preventive measures to ensure long-term protection.
The cost of pest control depends on several factors, including the type of pest, the severity of the infestation, the size of the property and the treatment required. We offer tailored solutions to suit your specific needs. Contact us for a free quote.
Professional pest control is more effective, safer and longer-lasting than DIY methods. Experts can accurately identify pests, use advanced techniques and prevent future infestations, saving you time and money in the long run.
The frequency of visits depends on your situation. For severe infestations, a pest technician may need to visit multiple times to ensure complete eradication. For ongoing prevention, quarterly or bi-annual visits are often sufficient.
The most common methods include:
  • Chemical Treatments: Using insecticides and rodenticides to eliminate pests.
  • Traps and Baits: For rodents and insects like ants or cockroaches.
  • Physical Barriers: Sealing entry points to prevent pests from entering.
  • Heat Treatments: Heat treatments are effective for bed bugs and certain insects.
  • Biological Control: Using natural predators such as falcons or solutions to control pest populations.
We handle a wide variety of pests, including:
Our pest technicians use a combination of methods, including traps, bait stations and rodenticides. They also identify entry points and advise on sealing them to prevent re-entry. Long-term solutions may include habitat modification to deter rodents from returning.
Yes, when carried out by professionals. We use products that are safe and approved for domestic use. Our team provides detailed aftercare instructions to ensure the safety of your family and pets.
Both options are available for businesses and residential customers. One-time services can suit immediate infestations, while regular contracts provide ongoing protection and help prevent future issues.
Yes, we provide treatments for silverfish and other small insects. Treatments typically involve insecticide sprays, dusts or traps and include advice on reducing dampness and humidity, which attract these pests.
Bed bugs and fleas require specialised treatments, such as heat treatments, steam applications or targeted insecticides. These methods ensure effective eradication of these persistent pests.
In most cases no preparation is required, however for some treatments preparation may include:
  • Clearing access to areas requiring treatment, such as skirting boards or cupboards.
  • Storing food, utensils and personal items safely.
  • Cleaning floors and surfaces to ensure effective application of treatments.
  • Following any specific instructions provided by your pest control specialist.
Your pest technician will advise you if any preparation is needed before your treatment. Contact us to arrange a visit.
This depends on the type of treatment. For most treatments you do not need to leave your home. For pest control services such as fumigation our technicians will advise you when it will be safe to return based on the specific products used.
When applied correctly by trained professionals, pest control chemicals are safe and approved for use in homes. We take every precaution to minimise exposure and provide guidelines to ensure your safety.
Several factors impact the cost, including:
  • Type of pest and size of the infestation
  • Size and type of property
  • Methods and products required
  • Frequency of visits
Pest controllers use targeted treatments, including gel baits, insecticides and traps. They focus on areas where cockroaches hide, such as cracks, crevices and dark, damp spaces. Proper sanitation is also crucial for effective control.
Yes, we offer eco-friendly pest control solutions that prioritise minimal environmental impact. These include non-toxic treatments, traps and preventive measures.
Non-chemical methods include:
  • Physical barriers and sealing entry points
  • Heat treatments for bed bugs
  • Ultrasonic repellents
  • Traps and bait systems
  • Biological control using natural predators such as falcons.
