Pest Control in Stafford

Stafford is the county town of Staffordshire, sitting on the River Sow where it meets the Penk before flowing into the Trent. The town has a mix of medieval, Georgian and Victorian buildings in the centre, with residential areas spreading outward through Rowley Park, Castletown, Highfields and beyond. The rivers are at the heart of the rat problem in Stafford. The Sow and its tributary streams provide rats with water, cover and routes through the built-up area and we see activity all along the river corridor from Victoria Park through to the industrial areas east of the town. The flooding that Stafford has experienced in recent years is also linked to rat problems, as rising water drives rats out of their bankside burrows and into nearby gardens and buildings.

The town centre around Greengate Street, Market Square and the Shire Hall area has a good number of pubs, restaurants and food outlets. These older commercial buildings often have cellars, service yards and shared walls that give mice easy access. Food waste from the night-time economy adds to the attraction and keeping mice out of a building with a sixteenth-century cellar is harder than it sounds. The residential streets of Victorian terraces around Rowley Park and Forebridge share the same connected structure that makes terraced housing tricky from a pest perspective. Mice move through party walls, under floorboards and along pipe routes between houses without much difficulty.

Further out into the newer estates at Weeping Cross, Wildwood and Baswich, the pest pressures shift a bit. These areas sit on what was farmland and properties on the edges of the town often see rats and mice moving in from the surrounding fields. Squirrels are also a problem where mature trees line the streets or where gardens back onto the woodland around Cannock Chase to the east. Wasp nests are a summer constant across the whole town, from the old buildings in the centre to the modern housing on the outskirts. Stafford is a place where the combination of rivers, older buildings and rapid expansion into farmland creates a full range of pest challenges.

Pest control is the management or removal of unwanted pests such as rodents, insects, birds or other wildlife that invade homes or businesses. It involves inspection, identification of pests and tailored treatment solutions to eliminate or prevent infestations. Professional pest control companies use methods like traps, bait, insecticides and preventive measures to ensure long-term protection.
The cost of pest control depends on several factors, including the type of pest, the severity of the infestation, the size of the property and the treatment required. We offer tailored solutions to suit your specific needs. Contact us for a free quote.
Professional pest control is more effective, safer and longer-lasting than DIY methods. Experts can accurately identify pests, use advanced techniques and prevent future infestations, saving you time and money in the long run.
The frequency of visits depends on your situation. For severe infestations, a pest technician may need to visit multiple times to ensure complete eradication. For ongoing prevention, quarterly or bi-annual visits are often sufficient.
The most common methods include:
  • Chemical Treatments: Using insecticides and rodenticides to eliminate pests.
  • Traps and Baits: For rodents and insects like ants or cockroaches.
  • Physical Barriers: Sealing entry points to prevent pests from entering.
  • Heat Treatments: Heat treatments are effective for bed bugs and certain insects.
  • Biological Control: Using natural predators such as falcons or solutions to control pest populations.
We handle a wide variety of pests, including:
Our pest technicians use a combination of methods, including traps, bait stations and rodenticides. They also identify entry points and advise on sealing them to prevent re-entry. Long-term solutions may include habitat modification to deter rodents from returning.
Yes, when carried out by professionals. We use products that are safe and approved for domestic use. Our team provides detailed aftercare instructions to ensure the safety of your family and pets.
Both options are available for businesses and residential customers. One-time services can suit immediate infestations, while regular contracts provide ongoing protection and help prevent future issues.
Yes, we provide treatments for silverfish and other small insects. Treatments typically involve insecticide sprays, dusts or traps and include advice on reducing dampness and humidity, which attract these pests.
Bed bugs and fleas require specialised treatments, such as heat treatments, steam applications or targeted insecticides. These methods ensure effective eradication of these persistent pests.
In most cases no preparation is required, however for some treatments preparation may include:
  • Clearing access to areas requiring treatment, such as skirting boards or cupboards.
  • Storing food, utensils and personal items safely.
  • Cleaning floors and surfaces to ensure effective application of treatments.
  • Following any specific instructions provided by your pest control specialist.
Your pest technician will advise you if any preparation is needed before your treatment. Contact us to arrange a visit.
This depends on the type of treatment. For most treatments you do not need to leave your home. For pest control services such as fumigation our technicians will advise you when it will be safe to return based on the specific products used.
When applied correctly by trained professionals, pest control chemicals are safe and approved for use in homes. We take every precaution to minimise exposure and provide guidelines to ensure your safety.
Several factors impact the cost, including:
  • Type of pest and size of the infestation
  • Size and type of property
  • Methods and products required
  • Frequency of visits
Pest controllers use targeted treatments, including gel baits, insecticides and traps. They focus on areas where cockroaches hide, such as cracks, crevices and dark, damp spaces. Proper sanitation is also crucial for effective control.
Yes, we offer eco-friendly pest control solutions that prioritise minimal environmental impact. These include non-toxic treatments, traps and preventive measures.
Non-chemical methods include:
  • Physical barriers and sealing entry points
  • Heat treatments for bed bugs
  • Ultrasonic repellents
  • Traps and bait systems
  • Biological control using natural predators such as falcons.
