Crowthorne is a wooded village in east Berkshire, surrounded by pine forests and heathland that form part of the wider Swinley Forest and Wellington College landscape. The housing is a mix of Victorian and Edwardian properties near the centre, 1960s and 1970s estates further out and newer developments on former MOD land. The forest and heath surrounding the village have a direct impact on pest activity. Grey squirrels are everywhere in Crowthorne, using the tall pines and broadleaf trees as highways into roof spaces.
