Romsey is an attractive Hampshire market town on the River Test, one of England's finest chalk streams. The abbey church dominates the centre and the streets around it are lined with a mix of Georgian, Tudor and Victorian buildings that give the town real character. The River Test is world-famous for its trout fishing, but it also supports a healthy rat population. The riverbanks through the town and the water meadows to the south provide rats with water, food and cover and they move into the gardens and outbuildings of properties along the riverside roads.
