Liversedge is a small town in the Spen Valley of West Yorkshire, sandwiched between Heckmondwike, Cleckheaton and Mirfield. The town sits on a hillside with a mix of stone-built Victorian terraces from its textile mill days and newer housing estates that have filled in the gaps over the decades. The older terraced streets around Church Street and Hightown have the features that make pest control a regular necessity in mill towns across West Yorkshire. Wasp nests are a regular summer call, appearing in the stone roof spaces, garden sheds and under the stone coping on the older properties. The gaps in stonework and between roof slates provide easy access for queen wasps in spring.
