Hythe is a small coastal town in the CT21 postcode area on the southern edge of Kent between Folkestone and the Romney Marshes. The town slopes up from the seafront to the old High Street and the Royal Military Canal runs along the northern edge separating Hythe from the flat marshland beyond. This watery landscape has a direct effect on pest activity. The canal and the drainage ditches across the marshes provide ideal habitat for rats and they move freely between the waterside and nearby properties. Homes along the canal and those closest to the marsh edge see the most rat activity and we deal with burrows along garden boundaries and under sheds throughout the year.

The older part of Hythe up around the High Street and St Leonard's Church has some beautiful buildings but they also come with the pest issues that age brings. Wasp nests are treated regularly during the summer months with the older properties on the hillside being the most common locations. The combination of coast and marshland gives Hythe a wider range of pest pressures than many towns its size and understanding the local geography is key to dealing with them effectively.
