Cackle Street is a small hamlet near Brightling in the East Sussex High Weald, a handful of houses along a lane surrounded by woodland and small fields. The landscape here is typical of the Weald with its heavy clay soils, steep-sided valleys and ancient hedgerows and the deeply rural setting means that pests are simply part of living here.
