Camden Hill is a small area between Pembury and Tunbridge Wells, sitting on the higher ground with views across the surrounding Kentish countryside. The houses here are a mix of older properties and some more recent builds, set among well-mature gardens with mature trees. The wooded areas and hedgerows that run through and around the settlement create a green and pleasant setting, but they also provide cover and habitat for pests. Grey squirrels are common around Camden Hill, using the large trees in gardens and along the lanes as food sources and nesting sites. Rats are less common up on the hill than they are in the lower-lying valleys nearby, but they do appear, especially where gardens have compost heaps, bird feeders or chicken runs that provide easy food. Rat control here is usually straightforward once the food source is identified and managed. Wasp nests are a summer issue in the roof spaces and garden sheds across the area, with the sheltered south-facing gardens providing the warm conditions that wasps prefer for nesting.
