Lye Green is a small residential area on the southern edge of Crowborough, close to the open heathland and woodland of the Ashdown Forest. The houses here range from Victorian cottages near the old crossroads to newer builds on the outskirts and the whole area sits on high ground with views across the Weald. The forest fringe is the dominant factor when it comes to pest control. Grey squirrels are everywhere in the woods and they regularly move into the roof spaces of homes that border the open ground. The damage they do to wiring and insulation can be expensive to put right and acting quickly makes a big difference. Mice come off the forest edge and the fields that separate the houses from the open heathland and they head for warmth and food inside buildings.
