Huntingdon is a historic market town on the River Great Ouse in Cambridgeshire, once the county town and birthplace of Oliver Cromwell. The river runs right through the centre and the waterside areas around the medieval bridge, the riverside walks and the flood meadows create ideal conditions for rats. Properties along the riverside and on streets like George Street and the High Street see regular rat activity, with the animals moving between the river cover and the buildings nearby. The river floods regularly in winter, pushing rats out of the meadows and up into the town centre and residential streets.
