Trowbridge is the county town of Wiltshire, a working town built on the cloth trade with a compact centre of stone and brick buildings around Fore Street and the Shires shopping centre. The River Biss runs through the town and feeds into the Avon to the west and the old mill buildings along the waterway hint at the town's industrial past.
