Worthing is a large seaside town on the West Sussex coast, spread along the flat coastal plain between the South Downs and the sea. The town centre has a mix of Victorian and Edwardian buildings around Chapel Road, South Street and the seafront, while the residential areas extend north through Broadwater, Tarring and Durrington and along the coast towards Goring and Ferring. The older parts of Worthing bring the same pest challenges as any Victorian seaside town. Rats are drawn to the ageing drainage system beneath the central streets and the Victorian sewers serving the seafront hotels and terraces have cracked and deteriorated to the point where rats can move from the drains into the buildings above. The Teville Stream, now mostly culverted beneath the town and the Broadwater Brook to the north both attract rat activity along their courses.

The seafront properties and the large converted houses along Ambrose Place, Shelley Road and the streets behind the promenade produce a steady stream of mouse calls. Many of these buildings have been split into flats and the conversions leave voids between floors, shared pipe runs and gaps where old and new construction meet that mice travel through easily. The inter-war housing across Tarring, Durrington and West Worthing is generally better sealed but still attracts mice from the surrounding gardens and the downland fields to the north. The South Downs rise steeply behind Worthing at Cissbury Ring and High Salvington and the farmland at the foot of the escarpment supports mice that drift down into the suburban fringe each autumn.

Seagulls are one of Worthing's most visible pest issues. Herring gulls nest on rooftops across the town centre and seafront, causing noise, mess and aggressive behaviour during the breeding season that affects businesses and residents alike. Wasp removal is a busy summer job too, with nests found in roof spaces, cavity walls and garden sheds across every part of the town. The warm microclimate along the coast and the sheltered south-facing gardens make Worthing reliable wasp territory from June right through to October.
